Absentee Ballot Applications Available Online

Here is a simple way to get an absentee ballot for this November's election.

Due to recent changes in Ohio voting laws, it is now more difficult for many citizens to cast their votes.  Among the many changes that affect us, Secretary of State Jon Husted has issued a directive prohibiting the mass mailing of absentee voter applications by election boards.  Here in Cuyahoga County, mass mailing of absentee ballots began in 2006, and is credited with dramatically reducing lines and congestion in our polling places on election day, and increasing voter turnout.  County Executive, Ed Fitzgerald is investigating the possibility of the county stepping in and providing this service to resident voters.  At this point, I don’t know what will be resolved.

So as a service to voters, I am posting the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections Absentee Ballot Application on my campaign website so voters may print a copy, and submit their own application to vote by mail.  Simply go to www.realgainforclevelandheights.com, and look for this blog post in the “Newsworthy” section of my home page.  Print the application, fill it out and put it in an envelope addressed to the Board of Elections.  It will cost you one envelope and a stamp.  And you won’t have to worry about whether you are going to get one or not from the county.   If you enjoy the convenience of voting by mail, you’ll be glad you did.  I sure do.
