The Rev. Robert W. Haring, 93, Pastor Emeritus of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Beachwood

After retiring in 1984, he ministered at Cleveland's Old Stone Church and Parma South Presbyterian Church

The Rev. Robert W. Haring, 93, of Cleveland Heights, pastor emeritus of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Beachwood, died Feb. 25, three days shy of his 94th birthday.

The Presbyterians of the Western Reserve recruited him in 1949 to help build a new church for the fledgling congregation. Its 400 or so members met at Sokol Hall and Sussex School before their worship facility was constructed in 1953 and dedicated in 1954.

Haring immediately established himself as a willing worker in interfaith relations. One of his first orders of business was to write a letter welcoming the Jewish congregation at Suburban Temple to the neighborhood. The two religious groups developed and maintained a friendly bond.
