59 Marijuana Plants Found in Cummings Road Home

Garry Kanter, 55, charged with felony drug trafficking, illegal manufacture and criminal tools

A Cleveland Heights man has been charged with felony drug trafficking, cultivating marijuana and possession of criminal tools after authorities said that 59 marijuana plants were discovered in his home last week.

Garry Kanter, 55, of Cummings Road in Cleveland Heights, was charged in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court March 25, according to court records.

The Sun News reports that 59 plants and 2,300 grams of hash oil were discovered after a search warrant was executed on his home March 20. He was arrested March 25 and posted a $25,000 bond the same day.

He's been charged with two counts of drug trafficking, two counts of drug possession and one count each of cultivating marijuana and possessing criminal tools.

Kanter is due in court April 10 for his arraignment.

Kanter, an active Patch blogger who has pledged to attend 455 council meetings and who is known to express strong opinions about local city and school official decisions, has been contacted for comment on these charges. We'll let you know if he responds.

Is this an April Fool's Day joke, a day late?

@efjacob.....I am sure the 59 plants and 2300 grams of hash oil were planted by CHPD in retaliation of his Patch blog posts. They probably snuck into his house why he was at one of his 455 city council meetings.

The patch only prints what is reported to them. They don't do journalistic research. Someone was out to get my friend Garry. he has made enemies with the city and school board. Find out what the facts are and then comment. A person is painted wrongly in the media and we the public must bear the proof of innocence...Hold off on judgement. Weapons of mass destruction still have not been found.
