Burglars Target Open Windows in Warm Months, Police Warn

The Cleveland Heights Police Department warns residents to take special care not to leave your home open to burglary in the spring and summer.

In the spring months, it can be tempting to leave your home's windows open during the day.

But Cleveland Heights Police warn that it's not a good idea — even with a locked screen, burglars can easily make entry into your home while you're away at work.

"Burglary 2400 block Demington 6/4 Betwn 200pm and 530pm entry through rear window screen cut. Electronics taken" the department Tweeted Wednesday.

This followed a Facebook post last week with a warning: "REMEMBER - With the warm weather upon us, when you go to bed at night in your air conditioned bedroom, make sure that your downstairs windows and doors are locked!"

The department adds that anyone who sees suspicious activity in their neighborhood should report it at (216) 321-1234.
