Cleveland Heights police incidents from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5

Suspect arrested in breaking and entering

Jan. 31, 12:13 p.m -- Cleveland Heights Police arrested one of the two men suspected of trying to break into a home in the 3300 block of Desota Avenue.

A neighbor spotted two men trying to kick in the door and called police for help.

The suspects fled south onto Compton Road and officers followed.

Police arrested Darryl Roberts near the intersection of Blanche and S. Taylor Road. The witness identified him as one of the suspects, according to Cleveland Heights Police.

He was charged with a felony count of breaking and entering.

The other man escaped. Anyone with information on his whereabouts or identity is encouraged to call Cleveland Heights Police Department at 216-321-1234.

Copper piping stolen from Cleveland Heights homes

Jan. 30 -- Copper piping was stolen from a pair of Cleveland Heights that were broken into on Jan. 30.

One of the homes is in the 3300 block of Clarendon Road and the other is in teh 3100 block of Coleridge Road.

In both cases, the thieves were able to sneak into the house via an unlocked window or door.

Residents are encouraged to lock the doors of both their homes and vehicles locked to deter thieves.

Burglar steals cameras, diamond ring

Jan. 30, 2:29 p.m. -- A house was broken into on the 3300 block of Ormond Road. When the resident returned home, they said their house had been ransacked with things thrown everywhere.

The resident said cameras and a diamond ring had been stolen.
