Cleveland Heights Man Pleads Guilty to Tax Fraud

Curtis McLemore will be sentenced Oct. 25

A Cleveland Heights man who operated a tax preparation business pleaded guilty today to filing fraudulent income tax returns for his clients, and will be sentenced Oct. 25.

Curtis McLemore, who operated McLemore and Associates and Personal Services, reporting inflated amounts of income for 13 clients that totaled more than $50,000 more in tax returns than what they were actually owed, said Craig Casserly, spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, by email.

The 39 fraudulent tax documents span four years, from 2004 to 2008, according to the IRS. He pleaded guilty to all counts. How much McLemore is being accused of profiting from the bogus returns is still being investigated, Casserly said by email.
