Cleveland Heights Man Sentenced For Tax Fraud

Curtis McLemore was sentenced to six months in prison and one year of supervised release

A Cleveland Heights man who operated a tax preparation business and filed fraudulent income tax returns for his clients was sentenced in December.

Curtis McLemore, who operated McLemore and Associates and Personal Services, reporting inflated amounts of income for 13 clients that totaled more than $50,000 more in tax returns than what they were actually owed, said Craig Casserly, spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, when he was first charged in April.

McLemore was sentenced Dec. 13 and received a six-month prison sentence, one year of supervised release and was charged a special assessment of $3,900.

The 39 fraudulent tax documents span four years, from 2004 to 2008, according to the IRS. He pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to all counts.
