Cleveland Heights Police Blotter: 2 Men Run From Officers

A 24-year-old who had a minor traffic violation and a 22-year-old who was stealing electronics from a home both fled from police

  • A police officer signaled a driver to pull over near Noble and Elmwood roads for a minor traffic violation April 19. When the driver started to speed up and it was clear he was fleeing the patrol car, the officer chose not to chase him because it was a minor infraction and car pursuits can be dangerous. But the 24-year-old driver didn’t realize that, and sped up so fast that he lost control of the car and slammed into the North Coast Foot Center on Noble Road. He ran from the damaged car and was caught by police, who arrested him for fleeing and driving with a suspended license.
  • A police officer stopped a 22-year-old Cleveland Heights resident on Coventry Road because he was carrying televisions and other covered items out of a house using a cart around 1 p.m. April 20. As the officer was questioning him, the man took off. The suspect had told the officer where he lived, so police stopped by his apartment building and arrested him for burglary.
