Drunken Driving Checkpoint Coming to Northeast Ohio This Week

But the details of the location won't be announced until the day before the checkpoint.

By Colin McEwen

Drinking and driving has never been a more terrible idea.

This week, the Ohio Highway Patrol will have a checkpoint somewhere in Northeast Ohio. Yup, it's a secret for now.

The patrol's Cleveland Metro Post announced that troopers will operate an drunken driving checkpoint "to deter and intercept impaired drivers" this week.

The city where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, and the  location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

"If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink," according to a news release. "Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired."

Local law enforcement will be on hand to assist the Ohio Highway Patrol at the checkpoint.
