Man Accused Of Attacking Another Man With A Brandy Bottle

Herbert Heaggans was charged with felonious assault after an argument that started over a car, Cleveland Heights Police said

A man is accused of hitting his sister's boyfriend in the head with a liquor bottle during an argument over a car Monday in Cleveland Heights.

Cleveland Heights Police were called that evening to a house on Rossmoor Road to break up a fight between two men -- the suspect, Herbert Heaggans, and the reported victim.

When officers arrived, they separated the two and learned the argument began over damage that had been done to the boyfriend's car, police said. The boyfriend had accused Heaggans of causing the damage and Heaggans denied it.

The two had fought and, during the scuffle, Heaggans hit the other man in the face with a bottle of Paul Mason brandy, police said.

The boyfriend had a severe laceration on his left cheek because of the blow, police said.

Heaggans was arrested and charged with felonious assault. His initial appearance in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas was Thursday.
