Man Attacked During Attempted Robbery Near Cedar and Fairmount

The 32-year-old Lakewood resident said a group of men punched and kicked him during an attempted robbery.

A 32-year-old Lakewood man said he was walking out of a restaurant near the intersection of Cedar and Fairmount on Sept. 22 when two men approached him and asked him for a cigarette.

He said he didn't have any, and the men then asked for money. He refused and attempted to walk away when three more men appeared and started kicking and punching him. They attempted to grab the victim's cell phone but failed and fled.

The incident was called in at 3:17 a.m. from the emergency room. Cleveland Heights Police said the man had bumps and bruises but did not sustain serious injuries. Police were unable to locate suspects and are investigating.
