On Feb. 16, U-Haul Moving & Storage on Mayfield Road reported that someone stole four catalytic converters from the lot.

Chief Jeffrey Robertson said there has been about a dozen similar reports in the city in the past month, and nearby communities are having problems with the thefts, too.

To combat the problem, detectives are monitoring scrap yards, where they sell for $100 to $250 apiece.
