are investigating a fire that started early Tuesday morning at a home on Nelaview Road as a suspected arson.
The fire started around 4 a.m. on the front porch of a duplex on the 1000 block of Nelaview Road, said Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson by email.
A Cleveland Heights police officer was on a routine patrol and saw the fire at 4:30 a.m., Robertson said. The officer woke the two residents in the home. One woman suffered a minor burn injury, and a dog died in the fire.
Police arrested a 16-year-old from Cleveland Heights who is being charged with aggravated arson and aggravated menacing, he said.
Robertson said he was not sure how long it took firefighters to extinguish the fire or the estimated cost of damage, "but extensive damage was caused," he said.
