Woman Allegedly Stole $200,000 Worth of Savings Bonds: Fugitive of the Week

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is looking for information on Toni Smith-Drake, the task force’s fugitive of the week. 

The U.S. Marshals and the United States Secret Service are both looking for Smith-Drake for a variety of charges, according to a press release from the task force. Smith-Drake is wanted for aggravated identity theft, fraudulent use of someone’s social security number, transportation of stolen property, securities and money, and for forging endorsements on U.S. Treasury Bonds. 

Allegedly, Smith-Drake—along with the help of others—stole and fraudulently negotiated an elderly female’s U.S. Savings Bonds. They were able to get more than $200,000 from the bonds.

Smith-Drake, 59, is about 5’9” and 250 pounds. She’s thought to be hiding in the Cleveland or Akron areas, and she used to have an address near the 400 block of S. Adams St. in Akron. 

The task force is offering a reward for information that leads to Smith-Drake’s capture. Individuals can call the task force with information at 1-866-4WANTED or text a tip to 847411 (tip411), keyword WANTED. Tips can remain anonymous.
