18 Apply for Vacant Seat on Cleveland Heights City Council

Candidate list will be narrowed down before council sets up interviews

The city of Cleveland Heights released the names today of people who are applying for the City Council seat previously held by Mark Tumeo.

Tumeo announced in March, and his . Eighteen Cleveland Heights residents have applied for his spot. 

The list will be narrowed down, said Mayor Ed Kelley, and then council will schedule interviews with selected candidates soon.

The person chosen by council will fill Tumeo’s role until Dec. 31, but he or she must be elected in November to complete the remainder of Tumeo’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2013.

Kelley said council will only consider candidates who are interested in running in November.

The goal is to name someone by the June 6 or June 20 City Council meeting.
