Cleveland Heights Teachers Union Still Collecting Signatures

The CHTU is fighting to get a referendum on the November ballot so that Senate Bill 5 is repealed

For , there's still time to sign a petition to help get a referendum on the November ballot. 

The Cleveland Heights Teachers Union is collecting signatures in the office on Lee Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until June 14. Anyone interested in signing after that date can call the office at 216-321-0020 to find out if they are still collecting. The

Ari Klein, 1st vice president for the CHTU, said they've had about 80 to 100 people come in to sign petitions, in addition to the 3,000 signatures that about 100 trained people who have circulated petitions have collected.

"It's been a real pleasure having people come in off the street. They're coming to do their part, and come out of their way to (sign)," Klein said. 

If 44 counties in Ohio collect 231,147 signatures, a referendum will be put on the November ballot, and those against SB5 can vote to repeal the bill.
