Cleveland Heights Trash Collection Fees to Increase

Effective Jan. 1, 2013, monthly collection fees for residents will increase by about $4.

Cleveland Heights City Council voted to increase fees for trash collection at its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 19.

Effective Jan. 1, 2013, residents in single-family homes or in units of buildings with multiple dwellings will see their bills increase from $7 to $11.50 monthly, said council member Bonnie Caplan

Council last amended the fees March 1, 2009.

Residents in single-family homes who receive the homestead rate for sewage treatment service will have the same $3 charge for trash collection per month. All others who are not single-family homeowners or residents in multiple unit buildings will see their bills increase from $12 to $18 per month.

The charges will appear on the monthly statement for water and sewer services.

According to council documents, the fee increase was necessary "to cover increased costs to the city associated with the collection and disposal of solid waste."
