Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, Judge Candidates Speak in Cleveland Heights

More than 20 candidates spoke about why voters should pick them in the March Primary

Nearly two dozen Cuyahoga County candidates spoke at the Thursday and shared why voters should choose them in the March 6 Primary.

The Cleveland Heights Democrats hosted “,” and people running for Cuyahoga County prosecutor, common pleas court judge, juvenile judge and other judicial offices spoke.

Candidates had two and half minutes to share what they were running for and why they would be the best person for the job.

Five challengers are competing to take over for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason, who is not running for re-election this year. Three attended the event, the from the Cleveland Heights Democrats for prosecutor candidates to speak to voters in Cleveland Heights.

Stephanie Hall, who graduated from and is running for Mason’s seat, said she’s been a public servant for nearly 20 years, and talked about her experience as a police officer.

“I’ve been pounding the pavement. I am a public servant. I don’t have the big name. I don’t have a lot of money, but I’ve been serving you and I look forward to serving you more as your prosecutor in Cuyahoga County,” Hall said.  

Subodh Chandra, who’s also running for the prosecutor position, says change is needed in the office.

“It’s time for us to envision this office in a very different way. Not as a place that is devoted to patronage politics that caused it, quite frankly, to look the other way when pervasive corruption was unfolding, but as a place where we can all have confidence across this community from east to west across racial lines that there’s just one standard of justice that applies to everyone,” Chandra said.
