Denison Pool Demolition, Park Renovations To Begin Soon

Cleveland Heights will add trees and paths to the park and remove Denison Pool, which closed a few years ago due to low attendance

On Feb. 7, 2011, Cleveland Heights City Council approved , which included removing the old Denison Pool.

That work will now begin soon, and the city hopes the next phase of the project is complete sometime this summer.

Council members gave City Manager Robert Downey the go-ahead to advertise for bids to demolish the old pool, which closed due to low attendance, and landscape the area at its meeting Feb. 21.

Landscape architecture firm Behnke Associates developed the plans, which include adding dozens of new trees, more walking paths and picnic tables. The city will keep the clubhouse in hopes that it can be used as a locker room in the future, as several teams use the field there, Downey said.

The cost of renovations will come from the Issue 27 fund, which is used only for recreation upgrades and maintenance.
