Cleveland Heights Businesses Competing in First Annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser

The inaugural fundraiser for the Heights Youth Scholarship Fund is set for Nov. 3 at the Cleveland Heights Community Center.

Cleanse your palates Nov. 3, because nearly 10 local businesses are constructing meat, bean and veggie concoctions for the first annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser.

The inaugural event will raise money for the Heights Youth Recreation Fund, which provides scholarships and reduced rates for Cleveland Heights youth to participate in city recreation programs and leagues.

The chili competition is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Cleveland Heights Community Center.

The following Cleveland Heights and University Heights businesses are entering their recipes:

  • Barle Soup and Sandwich
  • Brennan’s Colony
  • Cedar Lee Pub
  • Inn on Coventry
  • New Heights Grill
  • O’Rielly’s Pub
  • Rockefeller’s
  • Tommy’s
  • Zagara’s Marketplace

Tickets, $10 for adults, $5 for students (in high school and below), can be purchased at the community center and at participating businesses.

Tickets include chili samples and beverages, a children's menu, a play room for kids and gym for adults, a raffle with prizes including an iPod Nano, Barnes & Noble Nook, new bicycle, community center passes and a Tiger Nation gift basket.

Free parking and a shuttle will be provided to people who are attending the Heights High School football game if the team has a home playoff game that night.

Celebrity judges will determine who made the best chili and crown the cook-off champion.
