“He’s done a great job. He helped us reorganize the department, he introduced polls on the website and helped make great connections for us in the community,” Levin said. “He’s a very nice person, and we will miss him.”

Before working for the library, Schnurr said, he was an independent consultant in North Carolina, specializing in public relations and communications. He has also served as the director of communication and community relations for Lorain City Schools and the director of public information for Zane State College.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio University, and was the alumni relations coordinator for the College of Communication from 1997 to 2001, he said.

Schnurr said his work to improve the library’s site was one of the most important changes he implemented, and he’d like to see the person who takes over for him continue to develop marketing strategies and create an identity for the library.

“There was a lot of content and information (on the site,) but it wasn’t very well organized, and it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, which made navigation very difficult,” Schnurr said. “Some of the most important steps we took was to change those issues and make it much more user-friendly and effective for the library."
