The city of Cleveland Heights will begin later this summer a project to resurface the entirety of Mayfield Road within the city.

City Councilwoman Bonnie Caplan said the work is expected to begin later this summer.

The project is expected to cost about $3.6 million, with the project paid for with federal, state and county dollars.

The plan is to begin where Mayfield Road meets Kenilworth Road and work east toward Coventry.

The resurfacing of the road between Coventry and the city's eastern border at Warrensville Center Road is expected to occur next year.

The road will be open to traffic in both directions during construction.
