New Cleveland Heights City Manager Starts Work

Tanisha Briley begins her new job as Cleveland Heights City Manager.

Tanisha Briley begins her work as Cleveland Heights City Manager today, Aug. 1.

Briley was hired by the city in June. 

The city manager is hired by council to run the day-to-day operations of the city and also serve as public safety director. Briley will earn $140,000 in salary.

Susanna Niermann O'Neil has been serving as acting city manager since former manager Bob Downey resigned last April. Niermann O'Neil will continue service as Vice City Manager and community services director.

Briley, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Public Administration from Cleveland State University, has worked for the City of Davenport, Iowa since 2006.

Beginning as a Management Analyst in Davenport, she most recently served from 2010 to the present as an Assistant City Administrator. Some of her responsibilities in that position included budget development, marketing initiatives and sustainability programs. She has also taken the lead on citizen involvement and youth programming.
