It no doubt needs work ... but the home for sale at 920 Dresden Rd. is the least expensive home for sale in Cleveland Heights right now.

I can explain the price. The home is in obvious terrible shape, and it's in the East Cleveland school system.

I'm pretty sure buying this place is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. Remember, location, location, location lol. Hey if the bank offers it at five thousand I'm sure someone would buy it then. A little paint, a little febreeze, and a little paperwork and this place will be section 8 ready in no time. That is also the problem. If people are able to get section 8 deeper into Cleveland Heights, why in the hell, on god's green earth would you want to live on the borders of the "bad lands"? Who run the barter town? "Masta Blaster" lol

This is nothing to celebrate, in fact these kinds of sales are going on all over Cleveland Heights. Look at the transfer prices in the Sunday PD. The majority of the sales are foreclosures at $20-$30,000 or less. These homes used to be worth over $100,000 or more. What kind of person would buy such a house in these foreclosure areas? A slumlord who lives in another city who will gladly accept section 8 and perpetuate the death spiral that Cleveland Heights is in. I have thought about what can be done, and unfortunately it appears nothing.

This is what is going down all over the Heights. Look at the transfers in the Sunday PD. The bast majority are transfers in the $20-$30,000 range. These homes used to be worth $100,000 plus. What kind of person would buy this house for $10,000? A slumlord living in another town, who only cares about collecting his monthly rent check. It goes without saying these foreclosures will all be section 8 hovels shortly contributing to the death spiral of the city. I really think nothing can be done about this and as much as I hate to say it, CH is well on its way to becoming another East Cleveland.

im seriously considering heading out of cleveland heights in the spring, ive been been here over 30 years now, almost time to go. heights lovers(like myself) get so upset when i say this stuff but its the truth. we were ready to "move up" into a nicer home but now were thinking its time to "move out" and i am not alone, my corner neighbor says he is ready to put his house up as well, we are all cedar-lee neighborhood people. they have been taking a good amount of houses down in my area as of late but were wondering whats going to be done with these lots now. we are not opposed to a community garden but also not sure if thats what the city has in mind.

The city council has no vision, no plan, no answer.

Michael Lawrence, with all due respect, I hope, if you are a homeowner living in the Cedar Lee area you are able to made whole at least. The transfers in that area (those that are not foreclosures) have been frightentingly low. If you owned your home for 30 years or so, hopefully you bought low enough that you will at least get something. Good Luck!

But what if decent, hardworking families who otherwise couldn't afford a home bought it and slowly brought it back to it's former beauty? Do you discount those people? I'm such a person who would be looking at something like that....do I automatically become a "bad" person because this is the route I'm considering?

Agreed. New site is much too busy and/or confusing. Old format was easy to navigate and followRead More certain stories , a very cumbersome ordeal now. Thumbs down on the change.

I agree. I had even been tempted to start a blog just before this new and "improved"Read More layout. No longer interested in doing that - can't find anything on this patch.

That's odd. I was at the previous meeting, my first - on Global Warming, paid dues for the firstRead More time ever, wrote down my e-mail more than once, and still had no idea there was a meeting was last night.

Location is on Ormond Road, between Lee and South Taylor (the Heights main library is on the corner)

Along those lines, Diane, I thought an indoor greenhouse would be a good idea. Classes on how toRead More create gardens, grow food, store and preserve food would be an asset to the City.

Diane H. Dreizen & bachtobroadway42 - what interesting ideas! I'd love to see the whole messRead More raised and the area turned into a public park/recreation area with walking trails, bicycle paths, community gardens, etc. It seems the wind turbines could be in a place like that too. That's my dream, but we'll probably get some hideous redundant commercial development instead.

Fantastic ideas. I think a combo of retail and new green technology would be awesome. This is aRead More chance for CH to be innovative and show that it's not about the bottom dollar - it's about preserving what we have. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE NEXT MEETING IS - I WILL BE THERE!!!
