CH-UH School District, Parents Propose Ideas So Kids Can Take iPads Home

In response to more than a dozen thefts of school-issued iPads, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District decided in October to collect them from middle school students and not allow them to take them home.

But the school district would like the students at Monticello, Roxboro and Wiley to be able to safely take their iPads home with them again. The district hosted a meeting asking parents, residents, city and school officials for their input and ideas.

More than 100 people attended the community forum Nov. 15 and shared suggestions, according to an article in The Sun Press. Ideas came from both school officials and parents, which included organizing carpools, adding additional security personnel in the area and buying extra identification trackers to make it harder for thieves to sell the devices.

But some parents argued that it would be too dangerous to allow students to take the iPads home again, and that no safety measure would be enough.
