Cedar-Coventry Author Series, Derf (cartoonist John Backderf)

Illustrator and cartoonist Derf will talk about his new book My Friend Dahmer. Derf went to high school with the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and has written a graphic novel about the experience. Originally a 32 page comic, Derf researched Dahmer's life and expanded the story into a full-length illustrated biography published by Henry N. Abrams.

Derf's work has been displayed in museums and galleries worldwide. He is the recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy
Journalism Award and has been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists. He is the author of Punk Rock and Trailer Parks and Trashed and is the author and illustrator of The City, a cartoon strip that is syndicated nationally. Derf lives in Shaker Heights with his wife and two children.
