District spokesperson Angee Shaker noted that Heuer was not actively seeking employment outside of the district, but was approached by a recruiter for the Toledo Public School system, a large district that he felt was worth exploring.

"His focus continues to be on the needs of this school district. As long as he remains at the head of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, he will serve our students and community well," she added.
