Sun Press: Ensemble Theatre's Permit to Use the Former Coventry School Building Extended

The Cleveland Heights Planning Commission has extended the Ensemble Theatre's temporary conditional use permit to occupy the former Coventry School building to two years, according to an article that ran this week in The Sun Press. 

The theater has since January, and requested to have a more permanent situation. The previous temporary permit was up Aug. 30, according to the article. 

The theater's lease ends Dec. 31, and it is working with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District, which owns the building, to stretch that as well. It has productions planned for the fall, and is seeking auditions for its upcoming production of Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty, according to its website.

The City of Cleveland Heights has scheduled a public hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 to tell residents more about the amendments to a zoning ordinance that would set regulations for the Ensemble Theatre and other entities that use the facility, and to explain other changes to the ordinance that outline the reuse of existing nonresidential buildings in residential districts. The city is also asking the public for input before approving it. 

The Cleveland Sight Center and Family Connections , and just moved in about a month ago. 

The CHUH School District  in May before they moved in to talk more about future reuse plans, and representatives from the current and future tenants spoke and took questions from residents. 

The Cleveland Sight Center also July 20 to show off its new space.
