Barry Egan's contract will not be renewed

Updated 4:30 p.m. Tuesday: The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District announced that Barry Egan, coach of the Heights High boys' basketball team, will not lead the Tigers next year.

Kristin Hughes, athletic director for the school, said Egan's contract will not be renewed, and they are searching for candidates to replace him.

“The boy’s basketball team at Cleveland Heights High School played tough and achieved much success throughout the 2010-2011 season," Hughes said in a press release from the school. The team's record for the 2010-2011 season was 16-7. "While we look forward to next season and even more success, we have discussed our plans for next season with Coach Barry Egan and agree that we will pursue a different coaching direction."
