Cleveland Heights High School football player Shelton Gibson will receive an official invitation to play in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl at a special assembly Thursday afternoon.
A soldier will present Gibson with an honorary jersey at the event, which will begin at 2 p.m. in the Cleveland Heights High School auditorium.
The Cleveland Heights wide receiver is one of 90 high school athletes selected nationwide to play in the game, which will be Jan. 5, 2013, in San Antonio, TX. Gibson was one of eight players from Northeast Ohio and one of 400 nationwide nominated to play.
Head Coach Jeff Rotsky will also be honored and invited to attend the event in San Antonio.
Every high school football senior is eligible for selection, and in addition to being one of the top players and prospects, players must be in good standing with their schools and communities, according to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl's website.
