2012 It's Great to Skate Clinic

January is National Skating Month! Are you or your child intrigued by ice skating but have never tried it? Have you or your child skated a little bit and liked it? Do you want to know more about ice skating for your children or yourself? This event is for you! The Pavilion Skating Club of Cleveland Heights invites you to participate in the 2012 It’s Great to Skate Clinic. Monday January 23, 2012 6-7:30pm in the North Rink at Cleveland Heights Community Center. The event is FREE Skate rental for those that need skates is available for a small fee. Pre-registration is recommended Contact Karen Salamone at cluboffice@pavilionfsc.com for more information.  

6:00 – 6:15pm

·      Sign in, Welcome and tour, get rental skates introductions of staff and rink personnel

  6:15 – 6:25pm

·      Skating equipment- recommended attire- coat, gloves, helmet, proper fit, how to tie laces

·      Falling and recovery techniques

  6:25 – 6:30pm

·      Skaters placed into groups based on skating levels. Off-ice orientation

·      Groups will be identified by colors on nametags

·      Green:  never skated/ public skate only. (Snowplow – skaters less than 6 years old)  (Basic 1 – skates greater than 6 years old)

·      Blue:  Forward and backward skating skills (Basic 2-3)

·      Red: Crossovers and turns (Basic 4-8)

·      Yellow: Basic Skills jumps and spins (Freestyle levels)

  6:30 – 7:00pm

·      On ice lesson time

  7:00 – 7:30pm

·      Open skate time; instructors will be available to assist skaters.

·      Skating games

·      Mini exhibition with skating skills demonstrations

·      Distribute lesson information, coupons for free public skating and schedule of facility events.
