Coventry Launches Music And Movie Series, More Weekly Events Planned
The Coventry Village Special Improvement District is continuing the tradition and expanding its programming.
The Coventry Village Music & Movies Under The Stars series is a free, weekly summer event that Cleveland Heights residents and neighbors look forward to each summer. And now there are even more weekly events planned for people of all ages.
The Thursday night series kicked off Thursday near the arch at Coventry PEACE Park with an '80s classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and a performance from the Cleveland Heights Jazz Quintet. The music started at 7:30 p.m. and the movie began at 9 p.m.
The music and movie nights run through the end of July, said Steve Presser, who handles marketing and promotions for the district and owns .

Presser noted a few movies he's most excited about this summer — The Bad News Bears and A Christmas Story.
"The Christmas Story house — they’re sponsoring the movie, and we’re going to have snow cones. It's going to be a Christmas in July theme," Presser said.

And soon organizers will ask the community to send in their favorite YouTube movies so they can create a compilation and screen it at the park for one of the movie nights, he said.
The Coventry Village Special Improvement District will also offer other free, weekly events on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the park.
On Sundays people can unwind with a free yoga class from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., the drum circle starts. People are welcome to join in.
Families can stop by Monday nights for Playground Fun and play kickball, Frisbee, fly kites and use jump ropes. Presser hopes people pack picnics or stop by a restaurant in the district and make an evening out of it.
On Tuesdays, karaoke and open mic nights will rotate.
And on a few Sunday afternoons in July, the district and the will sponsor puppet and comedy shows and invite grandmaster champion chess players to show spectators their skills. Presser said the details aren't confirmed yet, but people can check the Coventry Village website for more information and updates.
