Just to add a sensible contribution to this out of control mob of ranting morons. We could change the metal composition of the penny to make it cheaper to produce. (was done in Europe during WW2) Or we could change the ONE cent coin to a TWO cent coin. That way it is profitable to mint again, and we won't have to round everything off to the nearest nickel, which would be the result of scrapping the penny, and which would end up costing all of us more money in the long run.

Eric March 19, 2014 at 09:58 PM Realist I couldn't agree more, I paid 39% between 2000-2009 Romney paid zero. I think he should pay the same amount I do. ________________________________________________ well congrats on making over $300k. That's what one would have to make to pay 39% . But dosnt that make you one of the people that you love to hate? weird.

By the wasy Eric in 2011 Romney paid a little over $5 million. Did you pay $5 million , ya know , the same?

To be fair, the rich use more government services than any of us. I mean they do have access to any senator they want for the right price. Do you think these rich people that pay that much in taxes and donations don't get 5 minutes of an elected officials time? Come on now. They just want you to make enough money to buy their product. That's it.

And to get back to the point. Yes, pennies should be eliminated. And no they don't always round up.. the can round down too. Something that used to cost $2.32 will now cost $2.30. I don't know why some people think it's Obama's way of getting your pennies. You should be worried about the people who don't want to give you a raise whilst cutting your benefits.
