Noon and Night There are Animal Activities for You This Saturday

Adoption event and fundraiser for pit bulls.

If you are looking to adopt, foster, volunteer or just meet some great animals and animal people, then stop out at at Golden Gate between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Public Animal Welfare Society of Ohio will be at the Mayfield Heights PetSmart (Golden Gate Plaza) and the Parma PetSmart (6870 Ridge Rd.) this weekend for an adopt-a-thon. Adopt a cat/kitten this weekend with reduced fees.

The stores will have a booth set up inside to adopt cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.  This includes all shots and spaying/neutering.  Screeners will be available for approving adoptions all day. So you can take your new pet home with you that same day.

Saturday evening there will be a benefit to raise money for the 27 pit bulls seized from a Cleveland based fighting ring in December of 2011.

Badges for Bullies will be holding a benefit on from 6-11 p.m. Saturday at Zone Car Lounge, 1303 W. 58th St., Cleveland. Tickets are $20 and include food, drinks, entertainment, celebrity bartenders and raffles.

Up until recently, these 27 dogs have lived a life of pain and neglect. With the help of local rescue organizations, volunteers are striving to give them the chance to have a life they deserve. Over half of these dogs have been diagnosed with a rare, and lethal blood condition called babesia gibsoni. This disease requires extensive care and treatment to cure.

Proceeds from this benefit will go directly to the care of these dogs.
