Reaching Heights Spelling Bee Set For March

The 21st annual Reaching Heights Adult Community Spelling Bee will be March 28

Spelling bees aren't just for kids.

For the past two decades, Reaching Heights has organized a , who are asked to spell words like zeugma and bouquiniste.

The organization, which raises money and organizes academic and music support programs for the public schools in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights , is accepting three-person teams for the 21st annual Reaching Heights Adult Community Spelling Bee until Feb. 24.

Each team pays $500 to compete and proceeds benefit the organization, according to the Reaching Heights website. 

The event has pulled in more than $262,000 during the past 20 years.

Up to 24 teams compete, and they are comprised of people from law firms, PTA groups, the CH-UH Board of Education, the Cleveland Orchestra and local universities such as Case Western Reserve and John Carroll. to see a photo gallery from last year's competition.

The bee is set for 7 p.m. March 28 in the auditorium. Admission is free, and raffle tickets are $1 each and $5 for 6.
