Monticello Middle School, one of three middle schools in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district, was founded in 1930 and has about 500 students. The school asks students to follow "Monticello's 3 R's," which are Respect, Responsibility and Readiness. Students can participate in several extracurricular activities, including robotics and ski club. In addition, the school has two student groups — the Mighty Males of Monticello and the Ladies of Leadership — dedicated to fostering their academic achievement, leadership and participation in community service endeavors.
