At least seven bullets struck a car parked in the driveway and the home, police said.
Cleveland Heights Police arrested a 50-year-old man from Cleveland accused of firing a gun at his girlfriend's home on the 900 block of Vineshire. The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. April 24, and police arrested the suspect, Barri Scott, May 9. Scott's children also live there, police said. At least seven bullets struck a car parked in the driveway and the home, police said. No one was injured. Scott is being charged with felonious assault, menacing by stalking and domestic violence, among other charges, and is being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail on an $100,000 bond. A 17-year-old boy from Cleveland Heights was arrested May 2 and charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Cleveland Heights Police said the teen threatened a neighbor near the 1100 block of Cleveland Heights Boulevard with the unloaded, .32 caliber handgun. Two teens were with him, a 17-year-old from Cleveland and a 16-year-old from Cleveland heights, and they were arrested and charged with trespassing. Questioned in the Nude: Twinsburg Police didn't learn much about a stolen-money accusation on May 3, but they were exposed to a naked man. Police said people fighting scattered when they arrived.
Cleveland Heights Police said there were about 100 people involved in a disturbance on Coventry Road outside of City & East just after 2 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, a group of people fighting scattered, but it took police 30 minutes to clear the area, as people coming out of the hookah bar still wanted to party. Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson said every available Cleveland Heights unit was there to get the large crowd moving. Police also reported that someone broke a window at Big Dog Theater. A man accused of striking a Cleveland Heights resident with his gun and robbing a couple at their home was arrested in Pittsburgh Tuesday, according to the Cleveland Heights Police Department. Tommie Golphin, 35, of Cleveland, was supposed to appear at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. A warrant was issued on his indictment April 24, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. The court sent summons to his last known address April 25. He is charged with aggravated robbery, felonious assault, kidnapping and having weapons under disability after prosecutors say he robbed a couple at their home on Nelaview Road. A 35-year-old from Cleveland accused of beating a Cleveland Heights man with his gun and robbing a couple in their driveway didn't appear for his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Monday.
A man accused of striking a Cleveland Heights resident with his gun and robbing a couple at their home didn't show up to court Monday for his arraignment. Tommie Golphin, 35, of Cleveland, was supposed to appear at 8:30 a.m. in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. He is charged with aggravated robbery, felonious assault, kidnapping and having weapons under disability after prosecutors say he robbed a couple at their home on Nelaview Road. He is accused of robbing a husband and wife in their driveway after they came home from the overnight shift Dec. 18. Prosecutors say Golphin attacked the man with his handgun. A 29-year-old from Richmond Heights said he was pulling into the Coventry Food Mart lot around 2:54 p.m. April 26 when someone got into his car and robbed him at gunpoint The suspect stole money, jumped out of the victim’s car and got into another car. The men each face three counts stemming from a what federal officials say was a plan to blow up a Brecksville bridge.
The five men arrested in the plot to blow up a bridge in Brecksville have now been indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday. The self-proclaimed anarchists will each face three counts stemming from a plan hatched over several months to blow up the State Route 82 bridge over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Brandon Baxter, 20, of Lakewood, Douglas L. Wright, 26, Anthony Hayne, 35, Connor C. Stevens, 20, and Joshua S. Stafford, 23, face charges including one count of attempted use of an explosive. Cleveland Heights Police officers say families have told them they feel safer in parks.
Police Officer Larry Rieck said Cleveland Heights residents have told him they feel safer in Cain Park now that he and three other officers are patrolling the area on bikes. “Families who said they haven’t come to the park in years are back … families feel safe here because the bike patrol unit has been formed,” said Rieck. “That credit goes toward (Chief Jeffrey Robertson,) who created this very valuable asset.” Robertson implemented the bike patrol program a year ago to help make Cain, Cumberland, and Forest Hill parks safer, but there were other reasons, too. “Our guys are out there meeting the public one on one, talking to the kids.
