Blaine Murphy illegally “flipped” 235 houses in Cuyahoga County, including homes in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights, by filing forged deeds
A Florida man who illegally "flipped" 235 houses in Cuyahoga County -- including homes in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights -- will discover his fate this week. Blaine Murphy, 44, will be sentenced 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Murphy pleaded guilty to 11 criminal counts of fraud and tampering in April. As part of his plea agreement he agreed to pay $1 million in restitution. Murphy was the key participant in a nationwide scam from 2005 through 2010 that included the purchase and sale of real estate in many states with the most activity occurring in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Texas, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Specialized rescues require special training.
Photos were provided by Cleveland Heights Fire Battalion Chief Pat Kehn. Members of the Heights Area Special Rescue Team spent May 7, 8, and 9 at Lake View Cemetery's Dam in Cleveland Heights training for specialty rescues. The Heights Area Special Rescue Team has been working on their "rope rescues," said Kehn. The team consists of 45 firefighters from Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, University Heights, South Euclid, Euclid and Beachwood. This week's work has included specialized training in high angle rope rescues and rescues in trenches, high places, confined spaces and collapsed spaces, he said.

It takes special techniques to rescue people in precarious situations, and practice makes all the difference when those rescues are needed.
Rescuing somebody who fell off a cliff or trapped in a collapsed trench is trickier than it looks. That's why several community fire departments got together to create a special rescue team for those kinds of situations. And they've been training Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Lake View Cemetery's Dam to be prepared. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Deandre Peterson.
Deandre Peterson is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff for escape, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for conditions of release violations and the Cleveland Division of Police for domestic violence. Peterson had an original charge of drug possession. The domestic violence charge stems from an incident when Peterson kicked in the door at the home belonging to the mother of his child in January of this year. Peterson, 31, is a black male standing approximately 5’09” and weighing 183 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Peterson is suspected to be hiding out somewhere in Cleveland. Man caught red-handed with stolen steaks April 24, 10:25 p.m. — A caller reported that a man was looking through cars on the 2100 block of Surrey Road. Officers went to the area and stopped Rodney Lamar Boyd, 44, who matched the caller’s description. Police ran his name and found that he had three arrest warrants with Cleveland Heights Police, and, upon searching him, found eight stolen raw steaks from Dave’s Market. Sharon Moore was released from jail on $25,000 bond, reports our partners at WEWS News Channel 5.
One of the three women accused in a deadly shooting the Cleveland Heights IHOP has pleaded not guilty, according to our partners at WEWS News Channel 5. Sharon Moore faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, inciting to violence, vandalism and robbery in the shooting. Moore after was released from jail on $25,000 bond. Rachella Womack, 20, and Natosha Williams, 22, were also charged in the incident. Womack pleaded not guilty and had a $100,000 cash surety bond set. Nadia Williams, 25, was shot and later died after a scuffle just before 3 a.m. on March 30 at the Mayfield Road location.
