Armed Men Rob Deli on Christmas Eve

Quick-thinking motorist spots men running from store, one with a gun.

Police are searching for two men they say robbed the Heights Deli the morning of Christmas Eve. A driver called police to report that she saw two men running down Mayfield Road, one trying to stuff a gun in his pants, just after 8 a.m. Dec. 24. When police responded, they spoke to the store’s owner, who said the two men entered the store with scarves wrapped around their faces, pointed a gun at him and took lottery tickets and a laptop. According to the owner, one man yelled, “Give me everything you’ve got!” The owner asked the man not to shoot and took the drawer out of the register, placing it on the counter. It was empty. They ordered the owner to lie facedown and one man got a laptop from behind the counter. The two fled the store.
