Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools to Get Nearly $120,000 From Casino Taxes
Schools will be receiving the first set of casino tax payments in January.
Cleveland Heights-University Heights schools will soon receive nearly $120,000 in taxes from the state’s new casinos. Figures for this first set of payments were released earlier this week. The Plain Dealer reports that the state is passing out more than $37.9 million in casino taxes to schools and districts across Ohio. Schools will receive their payments—based on enrollment—in January and August each year. “We have been aware that some amount of money was to come to districts from casino proceeds, and are pleased to see that become a reality," wrote Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools Chief Financial Officer Scott Gainer.
