Karp participated in the Maltz Museum's competition to find Cleveland's Funniest Rabbi
The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage held its second ever Cleveland's Funniest Rabbi contest earlier this week. Dr. Kiva Shtull of Shir Shalom in Chagrin Falls won the prized Gold Chicken with his wealth of moyel and Geauga County jokes. But while he may have been the funniest rabbi, he certainly wasn't the only funny rabbi who performed for the crowd Wednesday. Watch the other contestants here. Rabbi Ephraim Karp of Menorah Park had recently returned from his first visit to Israel in more than a decade and he joked about the perils of modern travel. From fruit-sniffing guard dogs at the terminal to ankle-twisting airport mishaps, he wrung levity from his trip. The other competing rabbis were Rabbi Shmuel Friedman from Chabad, defending …

Roberts participated in the Maltz Museum's competition to find Cleveland's Funniest Rabbi
Rabbi Dan Roberts of Temple Emanu El -- the defending champion -- did his best to defend his title, breaking out the props for some of his bulletin's funniest typos and recounting a hysterical story about the time he had to perform a wedding in midair. The other competing rabbis were Rabbi Shmuel Friedman from Chabad, Rabbi Ephraim Karp from Menorah…

Rabbi Lauren Werber of Temple B'nai Abraham joked about the differences between dining with her friends and family and her Southern Baptist in-laws. (According to Werber, one group allows for pauses in the conversation.) Watch this video to see how she and members of her synagogue even made an order for 15 waters complicated. Five rabbis from all around the region entertained the crowd at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage Wednesday night, but only one could be named the funniest
"This is year 5773 of the Jewish calendar," noted Victor Goodman, the master of ceremonies for the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage's second ever Cleveland's Funniest Rabbi contest. "And the thing that has kept us alive for 5,773 years is our sense of humor," he added. In the spirit of both their history and humor, five rabbis from around Cleveland competed to be named Cleveland's funniest and earn the contest's Golden Chicken. Watch the other contestants here. But it was Dr. Kiva Shtull of Shir Shalom in Chagrin Falls who won the prized poultry. It helped that he had years of experience as a moyel to pull from. The other competing rabbis were Rabbi Shmuel Friedman from Chabad, Rabbi Ephraim Karp from Menorah Park, defending champion Rabbi …
