Julian Rogers: Democrats Should Be 'Down With O.B.B.'

Cleveland Heights Democrats hosted a candidate forum Thursday night and provided voters with election information. County Council incumbent Julian Rogers suggested Democrats remember this when going to the polls — "O.B.B."

County Council incumbent Julian Rogers told a group of about 30 people at Thursday night's Cleveland Heights Democrats candidate forum to remember this when going to the polls — O.B.B. "Remember the song, 'Down With O.P.P.?' I've been saying 'Down With O.B.B.' — Obama, Brown and Brown. So we've got to make sure we get (Sen.) Sherrod Brown, (Justice) Yvette McGee Brown and (President Barack) Obama re-elected," said Rogers, who represents District 10, which includes his hometown Cleveland Heights and University Heights. Because he is running unopposed, he's working on Sen. Sherrod Brown's campaign. "This is a tough race. Cleveland Heights Democrats To Host Annual Picnic July 12

The group will meet at 5 p.m. at the Denison Park Pavilion, and the event is free and open to the public.

The Cleveland Heights Democrats club invites friends, families and neighbors to join the group for its annual picnic Thursday, July 12 in Denison Park. The event starts at 5 p.m., ends at dusk and is free and open to all. The group will meet at the Denison Park Pavilion at Monticello Boulevard and Quarry. The flier indicated that attendees do not have to bring anything and can expect "good food and conversation with your fellow Cleveland Heights Democrats as we gear up for election season." 80 People Attend 'War on Women' Forum

Eighty concerned citizens attended Thursday night’s forum at the Cleveland Heights Recreation Center on the “War on Women.”  The event, hosted by the Cleveland Heights Democrats Club, featured speakers Kellie Copeland, Executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, Gary Dougherty, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Ohio State legislative Director, and Democratic State Representative, Nickie Antonio of Lakewood, who serves on the Ohio House Health Committee. The Cleveland Heights Democrats will host a forum tonight in the Cleveland Heights Community Center

The Cleveland Heights Democrats will host a forum at 7 p.m. today at the Cleveland Heights Community Center to discuss the "War on Women." "Since the beginning of this year, attacks on women’s reproductive freedom have ramped up to a fever pitch. Join our discussion to learn how it started, and what we can do to fight back. This meeting is free and open to the public," the group wrote in a press release. Kellie Copeland, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, Gary Dougherty, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Ohio State Legislative Director and Nickie Antonio, State Representative, Ohio House District 13 will be the featured speakers at the event. Jeff Coryell Continues City Council Campaign This Weekend

Coryell, who announced he was running for Cleveland Heights City Council in March, will have a booth at the Coventry Street Arts Fair

Jeff Coryell announced in March that he would run for a seat on Cleveland Heights City Council in November. Coryell will continue his campaign this weekend at the Coventry Street Arts Fair, and encouraged people to stop by on Twitter. Coryell, who has lived in Cleveland Heights for 17 years, was one of six finalists who interviewed for former council member Mark Tumeo’s job. City Council members appointed Jason Stein, who will sit on council until the end of 2011, but must be re-elected to finish Tumeo’s term, which ends in 2013. Coryell has worked in politics for the past several years, serving as a president, secretary and now trustee of the Cleveland Heights Democrats.
