Ramone "Raymone" Clements, 42, of Cleveland, was charged with being a felon in possession of weapons and ammunition when police searched his home in the investigation of the shooting. He faces up to 19 to 24 years in prison at his sentencing June 13. "The whole thing was pretty amazing," said Robin Stone, who adopted the dog. "Forrest's situation and the shooting in the park was a huge part of the trial," she added. Accused Dog Shooter Testifies That Confiscated Bullets, Gun Were Not His

Raymone Clements, a convicted felon, is charged with illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition

On Tuesday, during the federal trial of Raymone Clements, a Cleveland Heights police detective played a recording in which Clements denied shooting a chained dog at Forest Hill Park. On Wednesday, Clements testified that the .22-caliber gun and two .22-caliber bullets that were found in different homes where he stated did not belong to him, according to The Plaine Dealer. For purposes of the trial, whether the jury believes Clements on the second point is more important than the first. He is not allowed to own guns or ammunitions because he has previous convictions in the Cuyahoga County …

For purposes of the trial, if Clements shot Forrest the Dog is immaterial, as he is charged with illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition

The federal trial continued Tuesday for the man accused of chaining a dog to a tree and shooting him in a Cleveland Heights park. In fact, part of the proceedings included conflicting testimony on whether or not Ramone "Raymone" Clements shot Forrest the Dog. Ramone "Raymone" Clements pleaded not guilty to charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, according to The Plain Dealer. The ammunition charge carries a greater sentence if Clements is convicted than his original animal cruelty charge, which was dropped after his federal indictment. Animal rights activists have balked at the charges, arguing that Clements should face hard time for how he treated Forrest the dog, not because he possessed bullets. Clements, 42, of Cleveland, is not allowed to own guns or ammunitions because he has previous convictions in the Cuyahoga County Court of …
