The Forrest Fund: Help the Rescue Dog's Owner Build a Fence

Robin Stone started an online fund to help get a fence for the pooch who was once shot and left for dead in Cleveland Heights.

Because Forrest went through a traumatic event when he was shot twice and left tied to a tree in Cleveland Heights, his caregivers don't want to take him off of his leash in the yard without being in a fenced-in area.  Robin Stone set up an online fundraiser at GoFundMe.com. In nine days, $300 was raised.  Donations from $10 to $1,000 can be made by clicking here.  But, those who contribute $25 to the fund can carve their name into the fence once it is built.  The 1-acre split-rail fence lined with heavy childen wire is necessary, for Forrest's safety and for the safety of others, according to the note left on the GoFundMe.com page.  Here's a note left by "Forrest:"  "My family cannot let me off of a leash and they feel I deserve to have …

Accused Dog Shooter Faces Another Federal Charge

The man accused of shooting Forrest the dog now faces weapons charges in federal court

A superseding indictment was filed adding an additional charge of being a felon in possession against Raymone “Ramone” Clements -- the man accused of shooting Forrest the dog and leaving him for dead in Clevelad Heights. Clements, 42, of Cleveland, was indicted last month on a charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition. Clements was found to have one round of .357-caliber ammunition and two rounds of .22-caliber ammunition on Dec. 20, 2012, despite previous convictions in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas for rape in 2006, drug trafficking in 2003 and aggravated robbery in 1991, according to the indictment. Forrest the Dog, Once Shot, Left for Dead, Will Appear at PAWS Benefit

Animal rescue organization will host benefit concert Feb. 16

The Ohio Public Animal Welfare Society will hold a benefit concert with a special appearance by a dog that was shot and left for dead in a Cleveland Heights Park. Forrest, a bull mastiff, was found in Forest Hill Park by a professional dog walker and rescued by PAWS. Later, he was adopted into a Solon home. The man accused of shooting a dog and leaving him for dead in a Cleveland Heights park will remain in jail until his charges in federal court are settled. Ramone “Raymone” Clements, 42, of Cleveland, was charged with having ammunition as a felon and faces 10 years in jail after police say he chained a dog to a tree in Forest Hill Park, shot him in the jaw and shoulder, and left him for dead last November. Because he is a convicted felon, he is prohibited by federal law from having ammunition. Police say they found one round of .357-caliber ammunition and two rounds of .22-caliber ammunition in his home while they were investigating the dog shooting. Ever stop and wonder about what dogs could say if they could talk?  Solon resident Robin Stone, who recently took in the dog who was shot and left chained to a tree in Cleveland Heights, gives Forrest a voice through his own Facebook page.  Ramone Clements, the man accused of shooting a dog and leaving him for dead in Forest Hill Park, was charged with having ammunition as a felon on Wednesday and arrested Thursday.  But charges related to the alleged crime against the dog — including an animal cruelty charge — were dropped by local courts. Accused Dog Shooter's Case Moved to U.S. Attorney's Office

Ramone Clements' new charge means that, if convicted, his maximum prison sentence is doubled.

Ramone* Clements will be tried in the U.S. Federal Court after he was indicted by the U.S. Attorney's Office with having ammunition as a felon. The charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. His initial charges with Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court carried about five and a half years. A U.S. District Attorney spokesperson said that the indictment was handed down by a federal grand jury this morning. Authorities are searching for Clements now to arrest him on the new charge. We reported earlier this morning that his arraignment for Friday had been cancelled. The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court will drop its charges against Clements in lieu of the U.S. Attorney's, said the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Clements, 42, of …
