Stadium Mustard King, Motivational Speaker Among Heights Hall of Famers

In a blind selection process, students selected the winners. They were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame on May 2.

A lawyer, hospital president, motivational speaker and a volunteer were among the 10 people inducted into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame on May 2. The hall of fame was created to honor graduates and to showcase successful adults to be used as role models for the students at the Cleveland Heights High School, according to a prepared statement from the school district. The public nominates the candidates. A committee of students select the honorees based only on their accomplishments. The students don't know what the nominees names are until after they are chosen.  For a full listing of the accomplishments of this class and other Hall of Famers, check out the alumni foundation's web page.  And the winners…

Fans, Friends, Dignitaries Say Goodbye to Indians Great

Memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church honors Bob Feller's life

Although 10-year-old Matt Arehart is too young to have seen Indians Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller on the mound, his grandmother and great aunt certainly did. Some tweens wouldn't be interested in attending remembrances of long-ago athletic legends they never witnessed in person with dewy-eyed elders needling them with all the plum details of the great times they missed. But his grandmother Carolyn Cassidy and her sister Martha Mooney didn’t have a problem convincing Matt, along with his 14-year-old twin brothers, Andrew and Jack, to attend a memorial service in tribute to the Cleveland sports legend this morning. Dignitaries from Ohio Gov. John Kasich to Indians owner Larry Dolan paid tribute to Feller’s life as a Major League Baseball …

Public Memorial Service for Bob Feller Set for Thursday at a Church in Cleveland Heights

Service will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

The public memorial service for Bob Feller will be Thursday in Cleveland Heights. The Cleveland Indians announced March 9 that the celebration to honor the Hall of Fame pitcher who died in December will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd. at 11 a.m. Thursday.  The Rev. Conrad Selnick, the rector of St. Christopher's by the River Episcopal Church in Gates Mills, where Feller lived, will officiate the service, according to the press release on the Indians' website.  The Brown-Forward Funeral Home in Shaker Heights will handle the arrangements. The service is open to all.
