Thanks For Celebrating Our First Cleveland Heights Patchiversary

Cleveland Heights Patch celebrated its first birthday at Phoenix Coffee in Coventry. Thank you to everyone who came by

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Phoenix Coffee in Coventry today to celebrate the first Cleveland Heights Patchiversary. We had a good turnout despite the weather. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and meet more people in the community. Check out the photos above from the event. Congrats to Brendon, who entered our raffle and was the winner of a $25 gift card to Phoenix. Thank you again to everyone who battled the snow and rain to say hello. And a special thank you to Phoenix for hosting our event.

Join us as we mark our first birthday. Did we mention free coffee?

Northeast Ohio's Patch web sites are 1 year old. It was the closing weeks of 2010 when all of our 17 community-based news, opinion and information sites got up and running. 90 Years in 90 Days: Pumpkin Carving at Phoenix on Lee

90 photos that define Cleveland Heights

Cleveland Heights officially became a city in 1921. Cleveland Heights Patch is observing that 90th anniversary by compiling 90 photos to create an album of the city's past and present. We'll run the feature for 90 days, one photo at a time. Phoenix Coffee on Lee Road invited families into its shop to carve pumpkins Thursday night, as it has since 2004. The business provided the gourd canvas, tools, cider and snacks for $10. Bremec on the Heights donated the produce, and proceeds benefit Heights Arts. Families didn't waste any time getting started on their jack-o'-lanterns. Some traced images from books, others sketched their own design and a few just started carving. The event was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Phoenix on Lee Road Burglarized This Morning

Baristas walked in to find the glass door shattered and money on the floor

Employees at the Lee Road Phoenix Coffee said someone broke in early this morning and stole money from the register.  "We saw the door was shattered, the alarm was going off and we walked in and the register was destroyed, and the money was gone out of it," said Nick Wise, barista at Phoenix Coffee. He arrived around 5:30 this morning.  "We called the cops, and they showed up pretty quickly and took fingerprints and took some pictures," Wise said. "We tried to clean up as quickly as possible." Wise said that there was glass and some money on the floor, but he wasn't sure how much they stole.  "We assume they panicked because the alarm is pretty loud."  The coffee shop is open today, and the employees seem to be keeping a positive attitude…

Update: Phoenix Coffee on Coventry Will Offer Ice Cream Cart

New dessert cart to provide summer treats for sidewalk strollers

Ice cream lovers have another reason to rejoice this summer. The Phoenix Coffee shop on Coventry will begin operating a sidewalk ice cream cart beginning June 26 at the first of the two Coventry Street Arts Fairs. The cart will feature the artisan ice cream creations of Sweetie Fry, owned by Keith Logan. He will be opening his own storefront ice cream shop on Lee Road later this summer. The lineup of tempting flavors, available in a cup or sugar cone, will change from time to time. But it will often include vanilla bean, espresso with salty caramel, strawberries and cream and mango sorbet. Children’s flavors include blue moon (grape) and cotton candy. Sweetie Fry crafts its ice cream in small batches using locally sourced milk and cream. …
