Flash mobs seem to be a thing of the past. The newest craze is "cash mobs" — organized events where people are encouraged to shop at and support a locally owned store. A "cash mob" hit Coventry in February. The crowd of about 50 people filled Big Fun and spent $1,454 in just an hour and 15 minutes. Revive, a store that sells fair trade items in Cleveland Heights and in Legacy Village, is hoping for the same success this Friday. FutureHeights is organizing this cash mob at the Cleveland Heights store, which sells scarves, clothes, jewelry, hats, kitchen and home decor and more made by artisans from about 30 countries. NEO Food Tours offering tickets until 8 a.m. Tuesday
The Cleveland Heights Holiday Hop, organized by NEO Food Tours, will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 8. Tickets for the food tour, which are now on special at $75 each, are on sale until 8 a.m. Tuesday. NEO Food Tours will donate $5 from each ticket to the Heights Emergency Food Center. The event will feature a walking tour of businesses and organizations along Lee Road in the Cedar Lee Business District, including Heights Arts, Lopez, Revive, SweetieFry, Taste and The Wine Spot. Mayor Ed Kelley will also tell attendees about the history of the area.
