Man pulls gun during dispute March 13, 8:05 p.m. — Someone called police and reported that a man had pulled a gun on him in his Clifford Road home. The suspect was gone when police arrived, but the resident told police that he had come to the door asking if there was a dice game. Police found marijuana in the home and arrested two people, one on an active arrest warrant and one for obstruction of justice. A group of five people -- three men and two women -- took his jacket, wallet and cell phone
Cleveland Heights Police are investigating a robbery that happened at about 5 p.m. Feb. 24 on Noble Road. A 19-year-old man was walking home when he was attacked by a group of five people -- three men and two women -- according to police. One of the robbers pointed a handgun at the man and all five attacked him until he bled from from his nose, mouth and ears. The group took his jacket, wallet and cell phone before fleeing. The man walked the remaining distance home and a family member called 911. Cleveland Heights paramedics took him to Hillcrest Hospital so his injuries could be treated. Police search neighbor’s home in burglary investigation Jan. 19, 3:47 p.m. — A resident of the 1600 block of Glenmont Road reported a that a TV and laptop were stolen. The resident said that their son and his two friends — one who lived next door — were at the home and the son and his friend went to the store, leaving his neighbor alone at the house. When the two came back, his neighbor was gone and so was a TV and a laptop. Officers’ search of the neighbor’s home yielded negative results. Quick-thinking motorist spots men running from store, one with a gun.
Police are searching for two men they say robbed the Heights Deli the morning of Christmas Eve. A driver called police to report that she saw two men running down Mayfield Road, one trying to stuff a gun in his pants, just after 8 a.m. Dec. 24. When police responded, they spoke to the store’s owner, who said the two men entered the store with scarves wrapped around their faces, pointed a gun at him and took lottery tickets and a laptop. According to the owner, one man yelled, “Give me everything you’ve got!” The owner asked the man not to shoot and took the drawer out of the register, placing it on the counter. It was empty. They ordered the owner to lie facedown and one man got a laptop from behind the counter. The two fled the store.

Break-in at vacant home leaves three feet of water Dec. 9, 3:58 p.m. — Police report that they discovered evidence of a breking and entering at a vacant home on Delmore Road. When they arrived, water was running in the basement and had collected around three feet. Cleveland Heights Police are investigating a robbery at BP on Mayfield Road. Police report that a man had a black handgun when he robbed the gas station at 6:07 a.m. Dec. 8. They are searching for a black male, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, who was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the robbery. This incident is still under investigation.

Cleveland Heights Police arrested a teen they believe robbed another at a local church.

A teen was arrested two days after police say he robbed another teen of his phone at a Cleveland Heights church. A teen male was playing basketball Nov. 28 in the parking lot of the Church of the Saviour on Lee Road when he said someone else hit him in the head from behind. The teen fell to the ground, and the assailant took an iPhone from the boy’s pocket. The suspect ran north on Lee Road with two other teens, police say. Why are we leaving the perpetrator's race/skin color out of the description. It would be a helpful way to identify him. Also, 5PM and 8PM are not very late hours to be out, not that it is ok to get robbed at any time, but this seems to be a new trend around here. I would be happy to pay a special tax to get police at every other corner to "send a message" to criminals.   more ›
