For a young team, even as talented as Cleveland Heights, drawing St. Edward to open the season on Nov. 30 was a daunting task. But the Tigers held their own in a 69-63 loss — even taking a 14-point lead with 3:32 left in the third. St. Edward, however, closed out the third with a 14-4 run and then outscored Cleveland Heights 21-11 in the fourth. “That’s an experienced team we were playing, who went to the Final Four with three starters back,” Tigers coach Andy Suttell said. “They knew how to respond down the stretch and we’re a team that’s kind of figuring that stuff out right now. Hoops Notes: Cleveland Heights Boys Basketball Reloads With Versatility

Everything you need to know about boys basketball at Cleveland Heights, Beachwood and Shaker Heights.

The Cleveland Heights Tigers look to reload after a 17-5 season ended in the district semifinals with a 43-33 loss to Garfield Heights. Cleveland Heights will miss the services of Tyree Gaiter — who is averaging 12.5 points at Notre Dame College — and Najeeb Johnson — who attended UW Platteville, a strong Division III program. “We lost a lot of talent,” coach Andy Suttell said. “But at the same time we’re still a very deep basketball team. I think we have some guys who are really going to have some breakout years.” The Tigers two returning starters, who will likely take on more responsibility, are Marcus Bagley and Antonio Harper.
