Stranger found sleeping on porch March 13, 8:10 a.m. — A Woodmere Road woman woke up to an unfamiliar man sleeping in a chair on her enclosed front porch. Police charged the man with criminal tresspassing. Copper pipes stolen from home March 13, 1:28 p.m. — A caller reported that there was an open door at a home on the 1000 block of Allston Road. Dec. 10, 1:25 p.m. — A resident of the 1600 block of Ivydale Road reported that someone entered her unlocked home while she was upstairs. She called out to the person, assuming it was her brother, and the person left. Dec. 10, 5:39 p.m. — Someone reported that their car was stolen while parked at the 13400 block of Cedar Road. Shots fired Dec. 5, 1:56 a.m. — Residents reported shots fired near the 900 block of Caledonia. Police responded and found three shell casings but no shooters or injured. Car stolen Dec. 5, 9 a.m. — A car was reported stolen from the 2700 block of Hampshire Road. Fight breaks out at basketball game Dec. 7, 10:16 p.m. — Three females — one adult, 19, and two juveniles, both 15 — were cited at Heights High School for disorderly conduct after police say they got into a fight. Man Charged With Drug Trafficking

Police make drug trafficking arrest Monday, Dec. 3, 12:12 p.m. — Police stopped a male for a traffic violation and smelled marijuana in the car. When they searched it, they said, they discovered marijuana. The man was charged with drug trafficking. Police believe someone living in vacant home Monday, Dec. 3, 2:52 p.m. — Police responded to a vacant home on the 3200 block of Kildare Road and discovered evidence that someone had been living there. Second Night of Thefts From Cars Reported

Cleveland Heights Police incidents Nov. 27 and 28

The Cleveland Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Cleveland Heights saw a second string of thefts from cars in three days. Five people reported that someone stole items from their cars overnight Friday, Nov. 30 on Overlook Road, and two more reported damage to their vehicles. The incidents were reported on the 2400 and the 2500 blocks of Overlook Road. Four people reported similar incidents near Noble Road overnight Wednesday, Nov. 28. iPad Thefts Prompt CH-UH Schools to Collect Them from Students

Devices made students targets of robberies.

Cleveland Heights- University Heights School District collected all school-issued iPads from its middle school students at the end of class Friday in response to more than a dozen thefts -- some violent -- during the past two weeks. Supertintendent Douglas Heuer said at a press conference Friday that the district informed the parents earlier that day of the move through an automated phone call, which will be followed with a letter. The district is working with Cleveland Heights, University Heights and South Euclid police departments to find the thieves. Having a tracking system on an iPad is great, but that doesn't solve the problem of a kid being assaulted and hurt. I'm glad the school system has the safety of the students top on their priority list. Dave, several years ago, all the kids in the middle schools were issued laptop computers through a grant from the Gates foundation. The money for the technology came from that grant.
